CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois men's tennis left East Lansing, Mich. with nine wins at the Drobac/Beeman Invite from Sept. 30 - Oct. 2 hosted by Michigan State.

Day one

Sophomore transfer Mathis Debru started off the victories when he defeated Notre Dame's Jameson Corsillo 6-1, 3-0 (ret.) before freshman Kenta Miyoshi picked up a 5-7, 6-2, 10-1, win against Fighting Irish, Braeden Ho.

Freshman Tyler Bowers won his first collegiate match against the host school's Reed Crocker, 6-2, 6-2.

"It felt great to be competing and repressing Fighting Illini Tennis in my first of many matches to come in Orange and Blue," Bowers said. "Having the team in my corner adds an extra level of comfort and excitement when I'm out on court competing. Can't wait for the next 4 years of playing for the University of Illinois."

In doubles play, Miyoshi and Debru went 2-0 when they beat Notre Dame's Ho and Corsillo and Michigan State's David Saye and Kazuki Matsuno, 6-1.

Horve and Bowers took one apiece after beating Michigan State's Pero and Crocker 6-2 and falling to Michigan's Will Cooksey and Patorn Hanchaikul, 6-1.
