CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois women's tennis team is back in action for the start of the 2022 season as the Illini travel to Las Vegas, Nevada for the Bella the Ball Collegiate Invitational on January 16-17 at the Darling Tennis Center.
The Illini will open the two-day event with a 5:30 p.m. CT match against No. 11 Baylor on Sunday, before facing off against BYU on Monday at 2 p.m. CT.

Illini vs. the Field
The Illini own a 4-1 record in the all-time series with the Bears after BU took the last meeting 4-1 on Feb. 16, 2020 in Waco, Texas. This will be the first-ever meeting between BYU and the Illini.
Illini Notes
- Head coach Evan Clark is in his sixth year as the head of Illinois women's tennis and owns an overall record of 81-58 (581) and is 42-22 (.673) in the Big Ten Conference.
- The Illini are coming off a 9-9 Big Ten Conference-only season in 2021.
- The Illini return five players from last season, including senior Shivani Ingle, juniors Emily Casati, Josie Frazier and Ashley Yeah and sophomore Kate Duong.
- Illinois welcomes in three freshmen in 2022 with the addition of Kida Ferrari, Megan Heuser and Kasia Treiber.
