Full Schedule

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois men's tennis announced the 2022 schedule on Wednesday, Jan 12.  The matchups feature seven teams that finished ranked in the top 25 at the end of last season including four ranked in the top 10.

"We're incredibly excited about this year's schedule," said head coach Brad Dancer. "It's a gauntlet. I can't imagine being one of our student-athletes who looks at the opportunities available to our team. What an awesome feeling to know you are going to get to prove yourself against the best in college tennis almost every week. We will be challenged every weekend and the guys will have every chance to prove themselves. You can't ask for anything more."

The Illini's home opener is set for Jan. 22 and will be a re-match of the 2021 B1G Tournament Championship match. Illinois will play Ohio State at noon before playing Chicago State at 5 p.m. CT.

This year, Illinois will travel to Ole Miss for ITA Kickoff weekend Jan. 28-30. They are scheduled to play NC State in the first match and then either Ole Miss or Oklahoma in their second match. Win both matches and the Illini will travel to Seattle for ITA Indoor Championships Feb. 18.

The Illini face a tough slate of opponents in the month of March, this includes the National Champion Florida Gators, Baylor and UCF who finished the 2021 season ranked #2 and #11 respectfully. Next they'll travel to Ohio State to play Dayton and the Buckeyes to start the Big Ten portion of the schedule.

The Big Ten Tournament will be played April 26-31 at the University of Wisconsin. NCAA selections are announced on May 1 will the tournament beginning the following Saturday.

Illinois is set to host the 2022 NCAA Team Championships and the Singles and Doubles tournament May 19-28. Depending on seeding for the tournament Illinois could potentially host the first and second rounds as well as the round of 16 leading up to the Championships.

Schedule Notes

• The Illini will face 10 teams that finished inside the top 50 of the ITA Rankings. This includes six teams ranked in the top 25 and fours ranked in the top 10
  • Florida (#1), Baylor (#2), TCU (#5), UNC (#6), UCF (#11), Ole Miss (#14), Ohio State (#21), NC State (#26), Notre Dame (#33), Duke (#36), Michigan (#49)
• Illinois' home opener is scheduled for Jan. 22. The Illini will play Ohio State in a re-match of last season's B1G Tournament championship. OSU finished the season ranked #21.
• Illinois will travel to UF to face defending National Champion the Florida Gators on March 16
• The University of Illinois will host the 2022 NCAA Championships at Atkins Tennis and Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex May 19-28
