URBANA, Ill. – Another strong day of competition on day two of the ITA Midwest Regional saw three Illini advance to the round of 16 in singles play, while two doubles teams advanced to the quarterfinals of competition.
Juniors Ashley Yeah and Josie Frazier, along with freshman Megan Heuser, advanced to the round of 16 in singles competition after winning their respective matches this afternoon. Frazier will compete tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. CT for a spot in the quarterfinal, while Yeah and Heuser will play at 10:00 a.m.
Kasia Treiber also competed today in singles, but fell to 18th-seeded Hannah McColgan of Northwestern. She will play in the consolation bracket tomorrow.
In doubles, the team of Ashley Yeah/Megan Heuser advanced to the quarterfinals with a win over Stephens/Gisclon of Michigan State after previously winning their round of 32 matchup earlier in the day. Freshmen Kida Ferrari and Kasia Treiber also advanced in doubles competition after defeating the team of Lazic/Streng from Northwestern. The two teams will compete at 9 a.m. CT tomorrow for a spot in the semifinals.
