CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois Fighting Illini wrestling schedule has been released for the 2021-22 season. The Illini will compete in four non-conference tournaments and one non-conference dual meet prior to opening up the Big Ten slate on January 14.
Illinois kicks off the season at the Michigan State Open on November 6 in East Lansing, followed by a dual meet at Appalachian State on November 13. The month of November will wrap up at the Lindenwood Open on November 21.
The Illini head to SIU-Edwardsville on December 11 before traveling to Chicago on December 29 for the Midlands tournament, the final tournament before the Orange and Blue begin in-conference competition.
Illinois will travel to Rutgers on January 14 to open up the Big Ten portion of their schedule before returning home to host the defending national champion Iowa Hawkeyes at the State Farm Center on January 16.
After traveling to West Lafayette, Ind. to take on the Boilermakers, the Illini will host three dual meets in a row, welcoming Northwestern, Minnesota, and Indiana. To wrap up the 2021-22 regular season campaign, the Orange and Blue will travel to Wisconsin on February 11 and Nebraska on February 13.
The Big Ten Championships will be held in Lincoln, Nebraska on March 5-6, followed by the NCAA Championships on March 17-19, which will take place at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich.
