The Football Writers Association of America named Illinois senior C Doug Kramer and senior OL Vederian Lowe to the Outland Trophy watch list, they announced Tuesday. It is Kramer's second watch list of the 2021 preseason, he was named to the Rimington watch list last week. This is Lowe's first career watch list.
THE OUTLAND TROPHY
The award is given annually to the nation's best interior lineman by the Football Writers Association of America. It is named after named after John Outland, an All-America lineman at Pennsylvania in the late 1800s. It is the third oldest player award in major-college football behind the Heisman Trophy and Maxwell Award.
