Feagles Set to Make to PGA Debut at John Deere Classic

NEWS

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fighting Illini men's golf alumnus Michael Feagles is scheduled to make his PGA Tour debut next month when the John Deere Classic tees off beginning July 8 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.

Feagles' inclusion in the field was announced by tournament director Clair Peterson as one of six competitors with strong Midwestern ties to earn a sponsors' exemption into the event, now in its 50th year.

A native of Scottsdale, Ariz., Feagles, concluded his Illini career this spring by leading the Orange and Blue to yet another successful postseason run that included the program's sixth consecutive Big Ten Championship and a berth in the NCAA Championship Matchplay as one of the final eight programs vying for the national title.

Feagles earned second-team All-America honors from Golfweek in 2021, in addition to his fifth first-team All-Big Ten and GCAA All-Midwest Region nods. The Big Ten's 2021 Les Bolstad Award winner as the conference leader in stroke average, Feagles established a program record with a season stroke average of 70.55. He opened the year in impressive fashion by posting a career-low score of 200 (-16) to earn his second-career win at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate, and was named to the Haskins Award Watch List in March. Feagles notched top-five finishes in seven of 10 events, including a fifth-place finish at the Big Ten Championship, a tie for third at the NCAA Stillwater Regional, and a fourth-place showing at the NCAA Championship. He carded par or better in a team-leading 23 of 31 total rounds on the year.

Feagles is also slated to compete this season on the Forme Tour after earning status as the No. 7 finisher in the inaugural PGA Tour University standings. The season's first Forme Tour event, the L&J Golf Championship at Jennings Mill Country Club, begins tomorrow in Watkinsville, Ga., with Feagles teeing off at 9:15 a.m. ET/8:15 a.m. CT.
