IOWA CITY, Iowa – Illinois men's tennis defeated Iowa 5-2 on Friday afternoon. They extend their win streak to 11 matches, the third longest conference win streak in program history.
Illinois picked up the doubles point with wins on Court 2 and Court 3. No. 14 Alex Brown and Zeke Clark lost their first match of the season to No. 10 Davies/Okonkwo. First time pairing Alek Kovacevic and Hunter Heck defeated Allaf/Tyler 6-2 before Noé Khlif and Siphos Montsi secured the doubles point defeating Snezhko/Dixit 6-4.
Illinois won the first three singles matches of the day. Hunter Heck finished first defeated Nikita Snezhko 6-0, 6-3 in No. 5 singles. On Court 3, Zeke Clark followed also defeating Will Davies 6-0, 6-3. Clark now has 99 career singles win, the 18th most in program history.
Noé Khlif clinched the match for Illinois defeating Joe Tyler 6-3, 7-6 (4) on Court 4. Iowa picked up wins on Court 2 and Court 1. Lucas Horve won his third match of the season at the No. 6 spot. He battled back to defeat Jason Kerst 4-6, 7-6 (1), 10-1.
