Last Time Out
Last weekend the Illini enjoyed a bye-week to gear up for the final stretch of the season. The previous weekend, the squad split a pair of away matches.
On Friday, March 26 the Illini dropped a close match to Wisconsin on the road, 4-3. Illinois won the doubles point behind strong performances from seniors Emilee Duong and Sasha Belaya on court two as well as freshman Kate Duong and sophomore Ashley Yeah on court three. Belaya and sophomore Josie Frazier secured singles wins, but it was not enough to take down the Badgers.
On Sunday, March 28 the Orange and Blue defeated Minnesota 4-3 to earn their sixth win of the year. After dropping the doubles point, singles match wins from senior Asuka Kawai, E. Duong, Frazier and Belaya led the squad to the victory.
Scouting Michigan State
Michigan State enters the weekend with a 4-10 record (4-9 B1G) and on a four-match losing streak.
Earlier this season, the Illini faced off against the Spartans in East Lansing, winning 4-2. Illinois has won eight of the last ten matchups and leads the all-time series by a 20-3 margin.
Scouting Purdue
Purdue enters the weekend with a 5-9 record (5-9 B1G) and comes off of a loss to No. 18 Michigan on Saturday, April 3 by a score of 6-1.
Illinois and Purdue faced each other earlier this year on March 21, where the Illini took the 4-3 victory at Atkins Tennis Center. Illinois has won six of the last ten matchups and leads the all-time series 19-8.
