CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Fighting Illini soccer team is set to open the Big Ten Regional Weekend with a preliminary round matchup with Iowa on Thursday, April 6. Kickoff is set for 7 PM CT under the lights at Demirjian Park on BTN+.
The Orange and Blue finished the regular season with a 6-4-1 conference record, good for a tie for fifth in the B1G. The Illini finished the regular season on a strong note with a come-from-behind victory at Northwestern on April 3. After going down 0-1 early in the first half, Maggie Hillman scored the equalizer in the 69th minute, and Kendra Pasquale scored the game-winner in the 88th minute to seal the Illini's sixth league win of the season.
Demirjian Park is set to host three games this weekend, with Illinois vs. Iowa tomorrow night and Nebraska vs. Minnesota tomorrow at 4 PM CT. The winners of tomorrow's games will play each other on Sunday, April 11 on BTN at 12 PM CT. The winner of Sunday's game will advance to the 2021 B1G Women's Soccer Tournament, with semifinals set for Thursday, April 15 and the finals on Sunday, April 18.

Iowa finished the regular season with a 2-8-1 record, with a 1-5-0 record away from Iowa City. The Illini played the Hawkeyes earlier this season, shutting out Iowa 3-0 at Demirjian Park. The Illini own a 15-9-1 all-time record against the Hawkeyes.

If the Illini win tomorrow, they will advance to play the winner of the Nebraska vs. Minnesota game on Sunday, April 11 for a chance to advance to the four-team B1G Tournament on April 15 and 18.
