Illinois seniors Zeke Clark defeated Albert Sprlak-Puk of Nebraska 6-2, 6-0 against Nebraska to earn his 100 singles match win last Sunday. Clark is 16th on the most career singles list and is the 16th Illini to hit reach 100 singles win.Â
Fellow senior Aleks Kovacevic is closing in on the mark. Kovacevic has 95 career singles wins.
Last Time Out
Illinois men's tennis won their 13th straight match on Sunday afternoon, defeating Northwestern 4-3. After falling down 3-1 early the Illini won the final three matches to capture the win.
Northwestern won the doubles point with wins on two and three. Zeke Clark and Alex Brown were leading Brookes/Bratholm 6-5 when play stopped. In singles, Clark defeated Nick Brookes in straight sets (6-1,6-2) to give Illinois it's first point of the day.
Illinois dropped matches on courts two and six before winning out. Each of the Illini won after losing their first sets. Noe Khlif defeated Chris Ephron 1-6,6-3,6-4. Siphosothando Montsi defeated Steve Forman 2-6,7-6,6-3 at No. 1 before Hunter Heck clinched. Heck defeated Trice Pickens 6-7,6-4,6-2 on Court 5.

Illinois is ranked No. 12 in the ITA Coaches Poll and No. 16 in the ITA computerized rankings. Illinois highest ranking is No. 8 in the USTA coaches poll.Â
They started their season unranked but receiving votes. After a strong performance over ITA Championship weekend, they jumped to No.6 in the Coaches poll.Â
In the latest singles and doubles ranking on Wednesday, April 21 Illinois had three singles players ranked and two doubles.
