CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The No. 12-ranked Fighting Illini men's tennis team ran its win streak to nine on Friday, defeating Wisconsin, 6-1, at the Atkins Tennis Center. The win completed a season sweep over the Badgers in Big Ten action and gave the Illini three wins over UW overall.
The Illini (13-2, 10-1 B1G) dropped the doubles point to open the day, but rallied to win all six singles matches over the visiting Badgers (4-8, 4-7 B1G). Alex Brown and Zeke Clark picked up the lone win in doubles play, defeating Wisconsin's Robin Parts and Jared Pratt, 6-4.
In singles, Zeke Clark tallied the first point for the Illini on Court 3, defeating Parts (6-2, 6-1), followed by a 6-2, 6-1 victory for Aleks Kovaceivc over Lenard Soha.
Kweisi Kenyatte cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6 over Robert Krill before Hunter Heck sealed the win with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Mihailo Popovic on Court 5.
Brown and Noe Khlif also picked up singles points. Brown rallied to defeat Pratt (5-7, 6-4, 6-2), while Khlif downed Jesper Freimuth, 6-7 (0-7), 6-3, 10-5.Â
