BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — A game originally scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CT had three changes to the start time before finally having the first pitch thrown at 7:05 p.m. CT. Illinois dropped the contest 8-0 to Indiana and was no-hit in the process. McCade Brown and Braydon Tucker combined for the no-hitter. It is unknown the last time Illinois did not record a hit in a game, if ever.
The game was hitless and scoreless for each side through three innings. The Hoosiers then put up a four spot in the fourth inning, highlighted by a two-run homer from Morgan Colopy. Indiana (13-7) would add two more in both the sixth and seventh innings.
RHP Riley Gowens (4.0 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 8 SO) had faced the minimum through three innings. In the fourth, all four baserunners and runs he allowed came with two outs. Gowens' eight strikeouts were a career high.
Despite not having any hits, the Illini did draw eight walks in the game. The best scoring chance of the night came in the second inning when Taylor Jackson flew out to the warning track in right field, stranding the bases loaded.
Illinois (8-12) will have RHP Andrew Hoffmann start the series finale on Sunday.
