CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Joe Maggio was named the Illinois football program's Director of Video, head coach Bret Bielema announced. Maggio oversees all day-to-day video operations for the Fighting Illini, coordinates Illinois and opponent scouting video for coach and student-athlete review, handles recruiting film, and manages a team of student assistants.
"I am thrilled to be joining Coach Bielema and the staff here at Illinois," said Maggio. "Being a part of a world-class program, culture, and institution led by Coach Bielema is an unbelievable opportunity. I'm excited about joining the Big Ten and Illini Nation."
"Joe has made an immediate impact on our football program as the video director," said Bielema. "He has enjoyed great success early in his career, helping programs reach higher levels in their video departments. We are excited to have him in the Illini family and grow our video department here at the University of Illinois."
Maggio joins the Illini after five seasons with the UNLV football program, where he oversaw the Rebels' video operations. He spent the 2013-15 seasons in the same capacity at Florida International.
Maggio went to FIU after a long stint at his alma mater, Stony Brook, where he eventually served as video operations manager and pro liaison assistant for the Seawolves. Maggio, who received his bachelor's in business management economics from Stony Brook in 2012, also worked with the Stony Brook lacrosse program and served as a videographer for the Major League Lacrosse Long Island Lizards franchise.
