Full 2021 Illinois Sofball Schedule
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Big Ten has announced the 2021 softball schedule, which includes 44 conference-only games for each team and begins on Friday, Feb. 26. At this time, no fans will be permitted at home games in accordance with State of Illinois COVID restrictions.
"This season is unique in so many ways," said Illini head coach Tyra Perry. "Playing an all Big Ten schedule will be challenging but we are ready to compete. We are counting down the days until our first pitch in Florida."
The Illini will open up the 2021 campaign the weekend of February 26-28 taking on Rutgers, Maryland, and Michigan at the Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex in Leesburg, Florida. Doubleheaders will be played against each team for a total of six games during the opening weekend.
After a weekend off, Illinois will then return to the Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex in Leesburg, Florida the weekend of March 11-13 to play three games each with Michigan State and Penn State.
The remainder of the games will be played as four-game series over the course of weekends, starting with the Illini hosting Minnesota at Eichelberger Field the weekend of March 26-28. Illinois will be on the road the following two weekends, traveling to Madison, Wisconsin to take on the Badgers on April 2-4, followed by Nebraska in Lincoln on April 9-11.
The Illini return home for a series with Purdue on April 16-18, followed by Indiana on April 23-25.
Illinois then hits the road again for a weekend series in Evanston at Northwestern on April 30-May 2, followed by the final home series of the season against Ohio State on May 7-9.
The Illini will wrap up the regular season on May 14-16, squaring off with Iowa in Iowa City.
