BATON ROUGE, La. – The Fighting Illini men's golf team, coming off a wire-to-wire victory at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate (Feb. 14-16), returns to competition on Friday against a strong field in SEC country at the LSU Invitational. The three-day tournament, hosted at LSU's University Club, will be played Friday-Sunday (Feb. 26-28).
THE SETTING
The LSU Invitational is hosted at the Tigers' home course, the University Club, in Baton Rouge, La. The course offers a unique setting that winds through Louisiana wetlands. The Par-72 layout stretches 7,227 yards.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
The 54-hole tournament will be played over three days with 18 holes of competition slated for each day. Each round will open with tee times off of Holes 1 and 10, beginning at 8:30 a.m. CT. The low four scores will count towards the team score in each round.
THE FIELD
The LSU Invitational features 15 programs vying for the team title, including 12 of 14 members of the Southeastern Conference, plus Illinois, Arkansas State, and Louisiana Tech. The No. 10-ranked Illini are one of seven teams in the field that are currently ranked in the GolfStat top-25, along with No. 11 Georgia, No. 12 Vanderbilt, No. 15 Auburn, No. 16 Florida, No. 22 Tennessee, and No. 24 Alabama. Host LSU, Arkansas State, Kentucky, Louisiana Tech, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, and South Carolina round out the field.
