Champaign, Ill. – Fighting Illini men's tennis head coach Brad Dancer announced the signing of Karlis Ozolins for the 2021-22 season.
"We are excited to welcome Karlis to the Fighting Illini Family, said Dancer. "During the COVID period, we've been able to have great dialogue with Karlis and his family and we feel his goals and ambitions align perfectly with our program. Not only has Karlis demonstrated he can compete at the highest level already, it was obvious to us that he has big aspirations for his life. In addition, Karlis is a strong student and will be an asset to our great institution. We look forward to welcoming Karlis in the fall."
Ozolins was a Junior Australian Open singles semifinalist and doubles finalist in 2020 and 2019 Grade 1 Tournament Champion. He reached a career high ITF junior combined ranking of 6 in Feb. 2020. He knows current Illini Alex Bancila from Junior Tour.
"I felt like this the place where I want to be for next four years of my life, surrounded by hard working guys where we can push each other every day and an amazing coaching staff."
