Champaign, Ill. - Â Fighting Illini women's gymnastics put up a season best 196.650 but it was not enough to overcome No. 8 Michigan who scored a 197.375.
Illinois put up a season best 48.975 on vault with sophomores Mia Townes and Arayah Simons scoring 9.850 on the event. Mia Townes matched her career high with a 9.850.
"The team did an outstanding job staying really focused and unified," said head coach Nadalie Walsh. "I love their confidence, I think they did a really great job and I'm really proud."
 Their momentum continued to bars where they scored another season-high, 49.225. Junior Mallory Mizuki lead the way for Illini in her first competition. Mizuki scored a 9.900 and won the bar title in her first meet after battling back following injuries.
The top-10 beam team scored a 49.150 on the event. Mia Takekawa scored a team-high 9.900. Senior Kylie Noonan scored a 9.850 with Scott and Townes both scoring 9.800's.
Illinois scored another season-best on floor, they put up a 49.300 on the event. Scott scored the team-high 9.900. Townes matched another career-high, scoring a 9.875.
