CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference announced Monday that the originally scheduled season-opener between Illinois and Purdue on Saturday, Feb. 20 is rescheduled to Thursday, Feb. 18, along with a new time and location.
The game will now take place on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 2 PM ET (1 PM CT), and will take place at the Grand Park Sports Complex in Westfield, IN. Illinois is still the designated home team for the season-opener. There will be no fans allowed at the game due to COVID-19 restrictions.
After discussions between the two teams, it was determined that Demirjian Park, home of Fighting Illini Soccer, would not be ready for play on Saturday. The new location was determined based on geographic location for both teams. The University of Illinois is still planning on hosting future home games at Demirjian Park in Champaign, weather-permitting.
Live stats will be available for the game via fightingillini.com, however there will be no live video stream of the game available for fans. Make sure to follow Illini Soccer on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for live updates of Thursday's game.
