CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – On Monday night, the Big Ten Conference announced the 2021 schedule for women's tennis. The Illini are set to participate in sixteen total matches this spring, including eight on the road and eight at home at the Atkins Tennis Center.
The Illini begin their official schedule traveling, as their first three matches of the season are trips to Iowa, Nebraska and Northwestern. They are then home for back-to-back matches versus Wisconsin and Minnesota on February 27-28, before heading to Michigan and Michigan State the following weekend on March 6-7.
Illinois next gets to enjoy four straight home matches on March 13-14 and March 20-21. They welcome Iowa and Nebraska, followed by Indiana and Purdue. The Orange and Blue follow that up with a trip north to Wisconsin and Minnesota on March 27-March 28 before a league-wide week off around the conference.
Following the week off, the Illini host Michigan State on April 10 before jumping to Purdue to face the Boilermakers on April 11. To wrap up the season, Illinois welcomes the Northwestern Wildcats on April 18 in their final regular season match of the year.
Postseason play for the Illini will start on April 29 at the Big Ten Tournament in Madison, Wisc. hosted by Wisconsin. Following that event will be the NCAA Regional Finals that begin the following Friday, May 7.
At this time, no fans will be permitted at home meets due to COVID-19 restrictions.
