CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois men's and women's track and field head coach Mike Turk announced the team's schedule for 2022 indoor and outdoor seasons on Friday (December 17). The Illini are set to open the indoor season on January 15 at the Wisconsin Midwest Invitational at the Gately Track in Chicago, Ill., and will begin the outdoor season on March 25-26 at the Ole Miss Classic in Oxford, Mississippi.
Illinois will host four home meets in 2022 with two during the indoor season and two during the outdoor season. UI will welcome teams to the UI Armory for the Illini Invitational on January 21-22 and the Illini Classic on February 18, before hosting the Illini Classic on April 8-9 and the Illini Invitational on April 22-23 at the Gary Wieneke Track at Demirjian Park.
Schedule Notes:
- The Illini open the indoor season at the Wisconsin Midwest Invitational on January 15.
- Illinois hosts four home meets, with two during the indoor season and two during the outdoor season.
- The Illini's season-opening meet hosted by Wisconsin is the only meet hosted by another Big Ten opponent during either season.
- The Illini will visit South Bend, Indiana twice during the indoor season, first for the Meyo Invitational on February 4-5 and then again on February 19 for the Alex Wilson Invitational.
- Big Ten Indoor Championships return to the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio on February 25-27.
- NCAA Indoor Championships will be held at the CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama, on March 10-12.
- The outdoor season begins on March 25-26 at the Ole Miss Classic in Oxford, Mississippi.
- The Illini are set to return to the Mt. Sac Relays on April 14-16 in Walnut, California.
- Illinois will be competing at the Drake Relays for the 13th time in the last 14 seasons.
- The Big Ten Outdoor Championships will be held at the University of Minnesota on May 13-15.
- The NCAA West Prelims are set for May 26-28 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, with the NCAA Outdoor Championships on June 8-11 in Eugene, Oregon.
