VOOIS' HIGHLIGHTS:Â Voois joins the Fighting Illini program from Ladera Ranch, Calif, where he is a standout prep at Tesoro High School. He led the Titans to the 2021 South Coast League Championship and the CIF Southern Section (Division 2) title. In 2019, Voois also captured top individual accolades winning the South Coast League Championship and claiming MVP honors. Voois, a dean's list scholar and 2021 AJGA Academic All-American, has enjoyed success in the last few years with several victories on the SCPGA Toyota Tour Cup Series. In 2020 Voois won the SCGA Junior Amateur Championship, and also advanced to match play at the prestigious California Amateur Championship at Torrey Pines. In 2021, Voois' success continued, highlighted by his first amateur tournament win at the 2021 SCPGA Inland Empire Championship, where he carded a tournament-best 63 in the second round. This year, Ryan has put together one of the most consistent seasons in the country with top-25 finishes in 11 of his last 12 events on the national stage, including a 25th-place finish at the IMG Junior World Championships which boasts one of the strongest fields in junior golf. He has also managed seven top-10s and four top-5 finishes over that same stretch.
QUOTING VOOIS:Â "I chose the University of Illinois for many reasons. First and foremost, I was very impressed with connections I made with Coach Small and Coach Bardgett; Coach Small has built an incredible tradition and history of excellence that permeates throughout the program. The resources and facilities - like the Demirjian Indoor and Lauritsen/Wohlers Outdoor Practice Facilities - are second to none. It all fits within a vibrant and beautiful campus and community. But most importantly, I am thrilled about the opportunity to enroll in the Gies College of Business, one of the nation's premier business schools, to continue my education as I build for my future."
SMALL'S TAKE:Â "We are extremely excited to welcome Ryan to our program! Ryan has shown that he has the physical ability and the work ethic to become a tremendous college player. The way that he goes about his business and challenges himself in the classroom and on the golf course, is something that has impressed me from the first time we talked. We look forward to getting to work with Ryan here in Champaign."
