2021-2022 Illini Men's Gymnastics Schedule
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illini men's gymnastics head coach Justin Spring announced the 2022 regular season schedule for the team Wednesday afternoon. The slate includes four Big Ten conference matchups, two nonconference meets, and a return to the Windy City Invitational.
The Illini will kick off the 2022 season with a return to the Windy City Invitational, which was not held last season due to COVID-19. In Illinois' last appearance in the invitational in 2020, the Orange and Blue took home third place after winning the meet in the 2019 season.
After a bye week, the Illini will open the conference schedule with a trip to University Park to take on Penn State on Jan. 29. Illinois' first home meet will follow the week after, with Ohio State coming to Huff Hall on Feb. 5 for a 4 p.m. CT start.
On Feb. 12, the Illini will welcome the 2021 national runner-up Oklahoma Sooners to Huff Hall for their first dual meet since the 2019 season. Another bye week and the 2022 Winter Cup awaits qualifying Illini on Feb. 25 and 26.
The Orange and Blue wrap up the regular season with three meets in three weekends, first traveling to Nebraska on Mar. 5 at 5 p.m. CT, welcoming Michigan to Huff Hall on Mar. 12 for a 1 p.m. CT start time, and finishing the regular season at Air Force on Mar. 19.
Postseason competition begins April 1 and 2 with the Big Ten Championships hosted by Penn State, followed by the 2022 National Collegiate Men's Gymnastics Championships held April 16 and 17, hosted by the University of Oklahoma.
