MADISON, Wis. – The Fighting Illini women's basketball team fell to the Wisconsin Badgers, 69-57, at Kohl Center Sunday afternoon despite a double-double effort by sophomore guard Jeanae Terry.
Terry recorded a career-high in scoring and her second straight double-double, finishing with a 28-point, 11-rebound performance. Fellow sophomore Jada Peebles also finished in double-figure scoring with 15 points, while freshman guard Aaliyah Nye chipped in with nine points off the bench. Â
Defensively, the Illini (2-10, 0-9 B1G) recorded season-highs in steals (12) and forced turnovers (20) against the Badgers (4-11, 1-11 B1G).
Although the Illini ended the first quarter with a 17-16 lead, the Badgers went on a 24-5 run spanning from the end of the first quarter to the end of the first half, outscoring the Illini 20-5 in the second quarter alone to take control, 36-22, at the break.
After some adjustments, the Illini were able to trade baskets with the Badgers throughout the second half, but couldn't overcome their second-quarter scoring drought.
The Badgers were led by forward Imani Lewis, who recorded a double-double with 22 points and 16 rebounds. Guards Sydney Hilliard and Estella Moschkau also tallied double-digit scoring games with 18 and 12 points, respectively.
