CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- According to EuroBasket.com, former Fighting Illini women's basketball standout Alex Wittinger has signed with top German club TSV 1880 Wasserburg of the Damen-Basketball-Bundesliga (DBBL).
It marks the second stop of Wittinger's professional career, after the native of Delano, Minn., signed in December with the Cockburn Cougars of the Western Australian States Basketball League.
Wittinger, who graduated from Illinois with a degree in System's Engineering & Design, played in 118 games with 108 starts for the Illini from 2015-19. She averaged 13.6 points and 8.2 rebounds and set the program's career record for blocks with 274. She was a two-time All-Big Ten second team selection.
Located in Wasserburg am Inn, Germany, TSV 1880 Wasserburg has ranked among the premier clubs in the DBBL, Germany's top league; the club has won 11 championships since 2004, including five consecutive titles from 2013-17.
