CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – A total of six former Fighting Illini football players took part in Illinois' annual NFL Pro Day Monday morning, March 9, at the Smith Football Center and Irwin Indoor Practice Center in front of 30 NFL scouts.
Taking part in Monday's workouts were six Fighting Illini from the small 2019 Redbox Bowl squad – Oluwole Betiku Jr., Dre Brown, Reggie Corbin, Stanley Green, Dele Harding, and Tymir Oliver. Jamal Milan had measurements taken, but was unable to participate in drills due to injury.Â
The Illini started off with measurements and vertical leap testing inside the Smith Center before moving to the Irwin Indoor complex for speed an agility drills. After the drill testing, the Fighting Illini took part in position-specific drills on the turf at the Irwin Practice Facility.Â
Betiku may have helped his stock the most on Pro Day, running an unofficial 4.69 40-yard dash, which would have ranked third among all defensive linemen at the NFL Combine. His 4.26 short shuttle time would have ranked first at the combine, while his 7.26 3-cone time would have been fourth.Â
The running backs also performed well. Corbin's 6.85 3-cone time would have ranked first among all running backs at the combine, while his 38-inch vertical leap would have been eight and his 20 bench press reps ninth. Brown's 4.55 40-yard dash would have ranked 12th among running backs at the combine.Â
Harding put up 27 bench reps, which would have placed second among linebackers at the combine, while Oliver's 29 bench reps would have placed fifth among combine defensive linemen.Â
Green also performed well, his 4.17 short shuttle and 20 bench reps both would have been fourth among combine safeties.Â
The 2020 NFL Draft will take place April 23-25 in Las Vegas. A total of 24Â Illini have been drafted in the last 11 years and 19 former Illini played in the NFL last season.
