Illinois men's golf head coach Mike Small and senior Michael Feagles joined a media teleconference on March 19 to discuss challenges facing the team surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Among the topics discussed, Small and Feagles each spoke about the close bond of the team, and how that is helping them through the situation, and the fact that the team felt they were poised for a run at another Big Ten Championship and NCAA appearance.
Excerpts from Small and Feagles, and full audio of today's conference call are available below:
"A blessing for us is that we have a very, very close team … We believe in that. We believe in culture, and environment, and attitude, and a love for each other. That's been why we've been able to do what we've done for the last 15-20 years. And this team is no different."
"Obviously, there's a sense that I've definitely got some unfinished business in Champaign - this was not the way that I wanted to go out - chasing our fourth Big Ten ring and getting to the national championship once again. So that's definitely sitting a little different with me right now. Usually in the middle of March we are getting ready to make a championship run."
