Illini Earn Seven Event Titles In Win Over Springfield College

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illini men's gymnastics team swept all seven event titles to lead the Orange and Blue to a season-high 409.700 dual meet victory over Springfield College (374.650) on Sunday afternoon at Huff Hall.

"We had to pull some start value out to increase our hit ratio in the meet, and we improved our hit ratio and our final score" said head coach Justin Spring. "We are going to grind for the next three weeks to maintain that hit ratio or better, and hopefully get that start value back in so we can compete with teams such as Oklahoma and Stanford."

Illinois improved to 3-1 overall and a perfect 3-0 at Huff Hall.

Seven different Illini picked up event titles today, with the highlights being Junior Jordan Kovach picking up the title for high bar with a career-high 13.550, and Sophomore Ian Skirkey winning the pommel horse title with a career-high 14.000.
