ROSEMONT, Ill. – Hamish Carter, a sophomore on the University of Illinois men's gymnastics team, has been named Big Ten co-Gymnast of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
It is the second career Big Ten weekly honor for Carter, who set a career-high on still rings (13.800) and a season best on floor (14.050) that was good for third and a tie for fourth place, respectively, Feb. 1, in a dual meet against Nebraska.
Carter placed in the top five on two other events, recording a 14.550 on vault (third) and a 13.400 on high bar (fourth). The West Midlands, UK, native also registered a 13.100 on pommel horse (sixth) and a 12.400 on parallel bars (10th).
Carter was the lone gymnast competing in all-around, totaling an 81.300.
Carter won the award on Jan. 14 this season and shares this week's honor with Stephen Nedoroscik of Penn State.

The Illini will take on Springfield College at Huff Hall on Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. CT. During the meet, club gymnasts will be competing for the club gymnastics meet.
Youth gymnasts, eighth grade and younger, will receive a voucher to redeem a T-shirt. Following the meet, the Orange and Blue will hold a post-meet autograph session.
