EUGENE, Ore. – The Fighting Illini women's tennis team got back in the win column after defeating Oregon, 4-2, on Friday afternoon at the Student Tennis Center. With the victory, Illinois moves to 4-6 overall on the season.

The Orange and Blue dropped the doubles point, as the Ducks had wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Oregon's duo of Uxia Martinez Moral and Myah Petchey downed juniors Sasha Belaya and Mia Rabinowitz, 6-2, before Illini pair junior Emilee Duong and freshman Josie Frazier defeated their opponents, Julia Eshet and Lillian Mould, 6-3, at the No. 1 spot. With doubles play knotted up 1-1, it came down to court No. 3, where Rifanty Kahfiani and Madisen Olsen of Oregon clinched the point with a 7-5 win over freshmen Emily Casati and Ashley Yeah.

During singles action, the Illini began to bounce back, as Casati drew the first point after blowing past Olsen, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles. Belaya claimed a singles point at No. 2, defeating Mould, 6-3, 6-2. Duong fell at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-3, allowing Eshet to grab Oregon's second point, tying the match up at two apiece. Yeah battled with Petchey, and took both sets, 6-4, 7-6 (9), to give Illinois a 3-2 lead. Frazier clinched the match, as she won over Martinez Moral, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.

Rabinowitz dropped the first set to Kahfiani, 3-6, before taking the second set, 6-4. The two were halted in the third set with the score in Rabinowitz's favor at 4-1.

The Illini travel north to Seattle, Wash., as they face Washington on Sunday at the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center. The match is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. CT.
