Hello Illini Fans!
My name is Delaney Rummell and I am a sophomore third basemen from Gilberts, Illinois. I am majoring in recreation, sport, and tourism.
This is now my second go-around as a Fighting Illini softball player, and I am more than excited for the upcoming spring season to begin. Due to COVID-19, my freshman season was cut short, along with Team 22 not being able to compete in any games this fall. It is safe to say this year has been unlike any other and these unique circumstances has made me even more eager to get back on the field with this new squad! Our team just wrapped up our 20-hour weeks and are now transitioning into eight-hour weeks. In our 20-hour weeks, we were fortunate enough to compete in seven intrasquad scrimmages, including our own "Fighting Illini Unlimited" and the original, "Orange and Blue Series." Throughout these scrimmages, our team chemistry was able to build, and we were also able to pinpoint areas of growth to focus on moving forward.
With that being said, we are more than excited to get on the field this spring and fight for Illini Nation through the 2021 season. I cannot wait to (hopefully) see you all there – socially distanced, of course, and prove how remarkable this team truly is!
