Beasley Leads Illini in Setback to No. 12 Hoosiers

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Senior Brandi Beasley turned in a team-high 11 points to lead the Illinois women's basketball team in an 83-42 setback to No. 12 Indiana on Monday (January 6) night in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

Beasley posted a 4-for-10 effort from the field, including two three-pointers, while sophomore J-Naya Ephraim contributed six points and redshirt-junior Petra Holešínská added five points – including one trey to move her into sole possession of seventh place all-time in program history.

Freshman Kennedi Myles led the Illini (9-5, 0-3 B1G) effort on the boards with six rebounds, with sophomore Mackenzie Blazek grabbing five boards on the night.

Myles and classmate Jeanae Terry each added two assists, while Blazek swatted two blocks against the Hoosiers (13-2, 3-0 B1G).

After a jumper from senior Ali Andrews brought the Illini with 7-5 in the opening period, the Hoosiers used a 9-0 run to build a 16-5 advantage, before going into the half leading 43-19 and continuing their strong play into the second half.

Illinois returns to State Farm Center for a two-game homestand as it hosts Rutgers on Thursday (Jan. 9) at 7 p.m. CT, before taking on Minnesota on Sunday (Jan. 12) at 2 p.m. CT on Big Ten Network.
