Opening Tips
• Carrying the Big Ten's longest active winning streak at four games – No. 21 Illinois is on the road for three of its next four contests, beginning Tuesday night at Purdue (6 p.m. CT, ESPNU).
• Illinois owns a four-game Big Ten winning streak for the second year in a row (Feb. 2-14, 2019) and is aiming to win five straight league games for the first time since Feb. 7-21, 2013.
• The Illini are also looking to snap a seven-game skid in West Lafayette spanning 11+ years. Illinois' last victory at Mackey Arena was a 71-67 overtime win in the opener of the 2009 Big Ten campaign (Dec. 30, 2008).
• Illinois has already surpassed last year's win total (12). The Illini are currently tied with West Virginia for the largest turnaround (+8.5) among schools from the six major conferences.
• Illinois is ranked 21st in the latest Associated Press poll, after debuting at No. 24 last week. The Illini are ranked in the Top 25 in consecutive weeks for the first time since the 2012-13 season (eight straight weeks).
• This is Illinois' highest ranking in the AP poll since standing at No. 12 the week of Jan. 7-13, 2013.Â
• Illinois is three games above .500 in Big Ten play for the first time since Jan. 18, 2012 (4-1).Â
• Illinois is off to its best start after seven league games since the 2009 conference campaign (also 5-2). Illinois' last 6-2 Big Ten start was in 2006.
• Illinois' defense has allowed an average of just 60.8 points on 39.1% shooting and 30.6% from 3-point range over the last 10 games, helping the Illini to a 7-3 record during that stretch.
• In its current four-game win streak, Illinois' defense is allowing an average of 57.3 points (229) on 36.6% shooting (85-232) and 31.1% 3-point shooting (23-74).Â
• Illinois is averaging just 8.8 turnovers over the last six games (53), tallying single digits in five of those six contests while going 5-1.Â
• Seven of Illinois' next eight games are Quad 1 contests.
• Twelve of Illinois' remaining 13 regular season games are either Quad 1 (9) or Quad 2 (3).Â

• Illinois ranks second in the Big Ten and third in the NCAA in rebound margin (+10.0).
• Illinois has outrebounded its opponent in 13 of 18 games, and nine times by double digits.
• Illinois ranks fourth nationally in offensive rebound percentage (37.5%) and is scoring 12.6 second-chance points per game. Â
• Illinois is No. 8 in the nation in defensive free throw rate at 21.2% (FTA/FGA), a complete contrast from last season when the Illini defense ranked 338th out of 353 teams in that same category (42.4%).
• Illinois scored 1.22 points per possession in Saturday's win over Northwestern, its best mark against a high major opponent this season.
• Illinois' 28.6% shooting in last Saturday's victory over Rutgers was its worst in a win since at least the 1979-80 season, and was the lowest shooting percentage in a win by any Big Ten team in at least 10 years.
• Illinois' win at Wisconsin on Jan. 8 snapped a 15-game skid against the Badgers and was the UI's first victory at Kohl Center in 10 years.Â
• In its Jan. 5 victory over Purdue, Illinois allowed just 37 points – marking PU's lowest output since 1949 – on 25% shooting, the lowest field goal percentage in Boilermaker history.
• Illinois' 71-62 victory over No. 5 Michigan on Jan. 11 marked its first win over a top-5 team since toppling No. 1 Indiana on Feb. 7, 2013. The Illini have now recorded three victories over opponents ranked in the top 15 dating back to last January.
