URBANA, Ill. - The Fighting Illini Open, a Men's 15K Tournament on the International Tennis Federation World Tour, hits the courts at Atkins Tennis Center next week. The tournament begins Sunday, September 8, with the singles qualifying draw, and concludes Sunday, September 15, with the singles final. The doubles final will take place Saturday. Up for grabs is $15,000 in total prize money.
All members of the Fighting Illini Men's Tennis team will compete in either the main or qualifying singles draws, highlighted by Zeke Clark and Aleks Kovacevic, who are among the 17 players on the Main Draw Direct Acceptance list. Clark holds the No. 370 spot in the ITF world rankings, while Kovacevic is ranked No. 583. Also competing will be former Illini and four-time All-Big Ten honoree Aron Hiltzik.Â
