CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Five Illinois Men's Tennis players were in action this weekend, going a combined 16-12 at the Oracle ITA Masters in Malibu, California, and the Southern Intercollegiate Championships in Athens, Georgia. Alex Brown reached the men's singles semifinals of the Oracle ITA Masters, while Lucas Horve, Alex Bancila, Siphosothando Montsi, and Gui Gomes combined for a 13-10 record in singles and doubles at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships.
Brown, the No. 12 seed in the men's singles draw, defeated No. 21 Hendrik Inno of Belmont, No. 5 Matias Soto of Baylor, andNo. 20 Corrado Summaria of Pepperdine to reach the semifinals. He fell 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 to top-seeded Keegan Smith of UCLA.
In Georgia, Montsi posted a 3-1 singles record and was the consolation champion of the Black Singles Draw. In the Silver Singles Draw, Horve also went 3-1, while Bancila won two of four matches. The duo of Montsi and Gomes went 3-1 in the Red Doubles Draw.
