CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Fighting Illini women's tennis team wrapped up the first weekend of fall play at the Wahoowa Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 22.
Senior Madeleine Gandawidjaja, juniors Sasha Belaya, Emilee Duong and Mia Rabinowitz, sophomore Shivani Ingle, and freshmen Emily Casati, Josie Frazier and Ashley Yeah competed in the weekend tournament for the Illini.
Frazier and Casati went 3-1 in singles matches in their collegiate debut. The Fighting Illini totaled 13 singles wins over the three-day invitational.
The invitational included doubles matches on Friday and Saturday and singles matches on all three days of competition. Illinois matched-up against players from Virginia, NC State, Oklahoma, Princeton and Kansas.
Junior Asuka Kawai will compete next weekend at the Oracle ITA Masters. The Illini will return to action as some members will compete on Friday, Oct. 4 through Sunday, Oct. 6, at the Baylor Invitational, while others will compete at the ITA Women's All-American Championships Saturday, Oct. 5 through Sunday, Oct. 13.
