Opening statement…
"Disappointment from this last game. There's no other way to put it. We thought we were ready to take another step, improve on some things we did the previous week. Had a good week of practice, and didn't really see that coming. When I say we didn't see it coming, we were playing a good Eastern Michigan team and we knew that we needed to play our best football and we didn't throughout the game. Reasons why, talking offensively I know Coach Smith will be up to talk in a little while, but when you score 31 points that should give you a chance to win the football game. Some of the things that can hurt you on the offensive side, penalties, you have to of course protect the football. But 31 points should give you enough. Which leads us to the defense, defensively of course it is as simple as this, we gave up too many points. Too many big plays, in particular the passing game. I think they had six big pass plays, three touchdown passes, all of that, the long run against our defense. These are things we haven't done in the past, things that we will clean up. So there's disappointment as I say it, and one of our goals was to finish 3-0 with our non conference schedule. But then you have to look at the total body of work for our total non conference schedule and a 2-1 record pretty much says how we played.I thought we played two very good offensive games, I thought we played two pretty good defensive games, which of course led to this record. Hopefully we get a couple of guys back injury-wise this week, a few we really missed this past week, especially on the defensive side of the ball. It's good to get Reggie Corbin back last week, of course Reggie is an outstanding player. Offensive line continues to give the running backs opportunities to score. So that's where I end talking about last week's game, after you get past the disappointment of it you realize that in a way the real season starts right now when you get into Big Ten play. They beat us pretty good last year, we know they are an outstanding football team. They present a lot of different challenges for us, but we are really excited about that. There are a lot of activities that are going on here on campus, but for us as a football team we get a chance to play in front of a nationally televised game and that has to get you pumped up even more."
On what needs to be corrected in the secondary defense…
"We need to cover them better. Its very hard, when you're not getting pressure you can send more guys, we did it a few times and we got burned a little bit from that. Eventually it just comes down to one-on-one game and you need to be able to cover. We've covered better than we covered this past week, we will do things a lot better than we did. Again, this was one game and we did not play our best football game."
On Sydney Brown's return…
"I think it's good to get any player back out there. When you miss all of training camp there is a bit of a learning curve. Sydney didn't play as well as he will play, and he didn't play as well as he can play. I'm going to say that about a lot of us though that went through all of the training camp and had a lot more practice. We started the process and it was good to get him in the mix. He's one of our guys so that's what it is with him. What I was pleased with, now that I talked about all the things I was displeased, Delano Ware. He hasn't had a lot of time either. He was one of the guys defensively that played really well. He had three good plays, took advantage of the opportunities he had."
On what makes Nebraska's offensive scheme difficult…
"When a team can beat you running the football equally as well as they can pass. They give you a lot of different formations, from no backs to one, that's what causes you problems. Just in general it's one thing to run the football but the option part of it, that along with the run keeps the defense up at night."
On the importance of the Nebraska game…
"I can't say that this one is any more important. If we had won last week I would be talking about how we had one goal to finish the non conference schedule 3-0, then i would talk about starting Big Ten play. So it was going to come, the importance of this game was there by itself and that hasn't changed. Hopefully when you don't play your best football there would be more of a sense of urgency  to get everything right and knowing exactly what type of opponent you have, it's about Big Ten play. In an ideal world you would want to start BIG 10 play at home, I talked about the audience that will be watching us and what we have going on this weekend. There's a lot of things surrounding this game and we want to be ready to go and as much orange as we see the better off we will be."
