Former Illinois pitching coach Drew Dickinson has been named an assistant coach at Virginia.
Statement from Illinois head coach Dan Hartleb
"We appreciate everything Drew has done for the Illinois baseball program. He has been a great asset to the program, both as a coach and a player. I am so proud of Drew, as I have watched him grow as a player, person and coach. We all thank Drew for his hard work at the University of Illinois and wish him the best as he moves on in his career. We will begin our search to fill the vacancy with a high-caliber individual to help lead our student-athletes."

Dickinson finished his eighth season as Illinois' pitching coach in 2019. He was an integral part of Illinois' first Super Regional appearance in 2015 and four NCAA Regional berths (2011, 2013, 2015, 2019).
The Fighting Illini produced 15 drafted pitchers, including two first-rounders (Tyler Jay, Cody Sedlock), since Dickinson joined the staff. The success on the mound has helped Illinois win 60.3 percent of its games over the last six years (202-133-1), one of the Illini's best runs ever.
