CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois football team suited up in full pads Wednesday for the first time in Training Camp. It was the fifth open practice of August at the Campus Recreation Fields east of Memorial Stadium at Florida Ave. and Goodwin Ave. in Urbana (MAP).
Quoting Lovie Smith
"We never go to the ground unless we are scrimmaging so not much is going to change on a day like today. Day 5 of Training Camp, coming off of a day off, you should see some good things starting to happen and we had our moments on both sides of the ball."
Day 5 Notes
» Former Illini Chris James, Curt Loveless, and Micheal Young were in attendance.
Great to see former #Illini receiver Chris James at camp. He is now the head coach at Morgan Park.

Full pads=big day for the #Illini defense. For the offense, not so much. Isaiah Williams with minimal reps today, but is still healthy. Meanwhile, Brandon Peters looking like the guy for @IlliniFootball. More on https://t.co/mRWJbSC5p5 pic.twitter.com/AMuirvd4FW
