URBANA, Ill. – The Illinois football team was back on the practice field Thursday morning for Training Camp practice No. 12. After a closed walk-through day on Wednesday, the Illini returned full-practice mode at the Campus Recreation Fields east of Memorial Stadium at Florida Ave. and Goodwin Ave. in Urbana (MAP).
On where the team is at right now:
"I think we have the guys in the right spots. Guys are getting to know the roles they'll have on our football team. The offense did a good job finishing plays today."
On transfer QB Brandon Peters:
"Brandon Peters has been as good as advertised throwing the football. We haven't named a starter or anything like that, but just watching practice you notice he's been everything we want him to be. He's really getting comfortable in the offense and comfortable being a new teammate. I've seen him growing each day in that role."
On the energy at practice:
"I liked everything that happened today with our football team. It was a good practice. Energy can mislead you sometimes, it's 'how are you practicing?'. We practiced hard today."
