Illini Soccer Announces 2019 Season Promotions

Champaign, Ill. – The University of Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Athletics announced a full slate of marketing promotions for the 2019 Fighting Illini soccer home season. The schedule features many exciting promotions, highlighted by the annual Soktoberfest celebration and 100 Kids vs. Illinois Soccer event.

New this year, the Illini will host a student shootout challenge at halftime of every game. University of Illinois students who check into the Oskee Rewards app will be chosen at random to participate in the contest for a chance to win one or more of several exciting prizes including but not limited to a television, iPad, Air Pods and an Apple Watch. The Illini will also continue to host Family Sundays, featuring large inflatables, face painting and other family-friendly activities during Sunday home matches. Admission to all Illinois Soccer home matches is free.

Illinois will kick off its home slate against the Loyola Ramblers on August 22, hosting a Back to School Night to start the campaign. The Orange and Blue will also give out up to $500 in Illini Union Bookstore gift cards to lucky University of Illinois students in attendance at the match.

Senior Day will take place on August 25 when Dayton come to town. Fan clappers honoring the senior class will be given out, and the senior student-athletes will be recognized prior to the match. In honor of the annual Urbana Sweet Corn Festival, Illinois will also be giving out corn on the cob to the first 100 fans to arrive.

UI will honor the U.S. Women's National Team on Friday, September 20, opening Big Ten play against Northwestern in a 7 p.m. matchup. The first 200 fans in attendance will receive free tambourines.

Soktoberfest is set for October 11, when the Illini host the Michigan Wolverines. Illinois will hand out mugs for the first 200 fans, and there will be brats and root beer on special at the concession stand.  

100 Kids vs. Illinois Soccer is set for October 13, with kick-off against Michigan State beginning at 1 p.m. An annual Illini soccer tradition, the first 100 participants to register in the post-match 100 Kids festivities will receive a unique numbered t-shirt. Registration information will be available at a later date. The game will also mark a Family Sunday event featuring inflatables and pregame activities.

The regular season home slate will conclude with Fan Appreciation Day, when UI hosts Minnesota at 1 p.m. The match will also mark the final Family Sunday of the season, featuring family-friendly pregame activities and concession stand discounts. 

Other promotions throughout the season will include Camper Reunion Day and Construction Zone Day (Sept. 15) Kick Cancer Night (Oct. 3), and Halloween Night (Oct. 24).
