Illini Gymnasts Wrap Up Competition at 2019 U.S. Gymnastics Championships

Diab claims still rings title

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Former Fighting Illini gymnast and two-time collegiate Still Rings National Champion, Alex Diab, earned a gold medal on the event after finishing with a two-day total of 29.350 at the 2019 U.S. Gymnastics Championships on Aug. 8-11 at Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo.
Rising senior Michael Paradise and rising sophomore Michael Fletcher also competed at the event. Paradise competed on pommel horse, finishing in fourth place with a two-day total of 28.300 on the apparatus, while Fletcher competed in all six events. Fletcher finished with the following two-day totals: floor (26.000), still rings (26.100), vault (28.550), parallel bars (25.350) and high bar (26.500). The Nashua, N.H. native finished pommel horse on day one with a score of 13.350.
