URBANA, Ill. – After Fan Appreciation Day on Saturday and an off day on Sunday, the Illinois football team returned to practice Monday morning for Training Camp practice No. 9. After practicing at Memorial Stadium Saturday, the Illini returned to the Campus Recreation Fields east of Memorial Stadium at Florida Ave. and Goodwin Ave. in Urbana (MAP).
"Just back to work as much as anything," Smith said about being back on the practice field after a day off. "We still have stuff to install, packages to put in. We have to look at different players. There's so much to do. It's back to the grind. Every training camp day matters, and this one mattered."

» Freshman defensive back Devon Witherspoon has officially been added to the roster and is practicing with the team. He'll wear jersey No. 31 for the Fighting Illini.
