Final X Hub
Former two-time national champion and Fighting Illini All-American Isaiah Martinez competes at the Final X on Saturday in Lincoln, Nebraska. Martinez goes head-to-head with 2018 World bronze medalist Jordan Burroughs in a best-of-three series with the winner claiming a spot on the 2019 Freestyle Senior World Team at 74 kg.
The series is the final bout in Saturday's Session Two, which starts at 6 pm CT and is streamed live on FloWrestling.
The series is a rematch from last year's Final X which Burroughs won.
A two-time Dike Eddleman award winner, Martinez defeated his old collegiate foe Jason Nolf at the World Team Trials Challenge Tournament last month to advance to the last stage of qualifying for the U.S. Senior World Team.
The 2018 Illinois graduate finished his Illinois career as a two-time NCAA Champion and four-time NCAA Finalist. The 16th wrestler in the illustrious history of the Big Ten to win four Big Ten titles, Martinez left Illinois with the program's highest win percentage (.975) and tied for 10th on the Illinois all-time wins list with 116. He currently serves as a volunteer assistant coach for Illinois wrestling.
