MINNEAPOLIS - The Illinois women's tennis team capped off a perfect 2-0 weekend on Sunday, as the Illini cruised past Minnesota, 6-1, at the Baseline Tennis Center. The Fighting Illini improve to 11-10 overall and 6-3 in Big Ten play. 

Match Notes

• With Duong's victory on court five, the Illini are now a perfect 10-0 this season when winning at No. 5 singles. 
• Illinois has claimed the doubles point in 15 matches this season, including eight of the last 10. 
• The Orange and Blue have won seven-straight matches over Minnesota. 

Illinois got off to a strong start, taking the early advantage with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. The pair of Daniela Pedraza Novak and Emilee Duong swept past Kreinis/Merzbacher, 6-0, on court one before Sasha Belaya and Jaclyn Switkes downed Frei/Huber, 7-5. 

The Gophers tied things up early in singles play with a win on court two, but the Illini responded strong with wins in the remaining five matches. Sasha Belaya claimed a 6-4, 6-4 straight-set win over Cammy Frei and Daniela Pedraza Novak put Illinois on the brink, as the senior secured a 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory over Camila Vargas. The match was clinched by Emilee Duong on court five. Duong took down Minnesota's River Hart, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 to secure the Illinois victory. 

The Illini closed out the match in dominant fashion, as both Asuka Kawai and Jaclyn Switkes clinched matches to put the final score at 6-1.
