
Quinn, Men's DMR Set For NCAA Indoor Championships

Devin Quinn runs 200m semifinal Friday at 7:52 p.m. CT, DMR final follows at 9:02 p.m.
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Fighting Illini men's track & field sends qualifiers to the NCAA Indoor Championships this weekend, which will be held in Birmingham, Alabama on Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9. Senior Devin Quinn will compete in the 200m semifinals on Friday at 7:52 p.m. CT. The men's distance medley relay group of juniors Jesse Reiser and Joe Haight, senior Denis O'Callaghan and sophomore Jon Davis will run for Illinois in the DMR final on Friday at 9:02 p.m. CT.

The day two live stream on March 9 will start at 4 p.m. CT. A tape-delayed broadcast of the championships will be televised on ESPN 2 on Sunday, March 10 at 9 p.m. CT, and will be aired again on Monday, March 11 at 9 p.m. CT on ESPNU. Know The Field
200m:
The field for the 200m carries 16 individuals vying for a national title. The eight fastest times in Friday's semifinal will advance to the final on Saturday. Devin Quinn is in the second of four heats. The other three runners in Quinn's Heat include Mustaqeem Williams of Tennessee, Andrew Hudson of Texas Tech and Keitavious Walter of Alabama. Big Ten opponents running i other heats include Nick Gray (Ohio State) and Karayme Bartley (Iowa).
DMR:
12 schools will compete for the national title in the distance medley relay on Friday night, the last event of the first day of the indoor championships. Joining Illinois out of the Big Ten will be Wisconsin and Indiana. Notre Dame earned the fastest qualifying time of the 12 schools in the field.

At the 2018 Outdoor Championships, Quinn earned Second-Team All-America honors in 200m and as part of the Illini 4x100m relay team ... He also was an Honorable Mention in the 100m at the Outdoor Championships. ... Earned bronze medals at Big Ten Indoor Championships in the 60m and 200m. Timed 20.71 finish in the 200m, a PR and the fastest 200m time in program history ... Time a 6.67 to place third in the 60m Dash at the conference meet ... Placed third at the Tyson Invite in the 60m Dash with a time of 6.67... Won both the 200m and the 60m at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational, clocking program top times in both events ... Qualifying time of 6.64 in the 60m ranks third in school history ... Placed first in the 60m dash at Larry Wieczorek Invitational with another 6.65 finish time ... PR Mile time of 4:01.98 at Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational, which ranks 8th in program history ... Placed sixth at Larry Wieczorek Invitational in the 3K with time of 8:11.28 ... Finished second at the Illini Open in the 800m with new PR of 1:55.25.

2019 Indoor Season: Second time qualifying for NCAA Championships after qualifying in the 2018 outdoor season as part of the 4x100 relay team, which placed 10th to earn Second-Team All-America Honors ... Ran on DMR squad that set a new program record in the event with a time of 9:29.19 at the Alex Wilson Invitational, which was also the ninth fastest time in the NCAA ... Set season-best in the 400m at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invite with a 47.95 finish time to place third ... Placed third in the 200m at the Illini Invitational clocking a time of 22.10

2019 Indoor Season: Placed fifth at Big Ten Championships in the 800m with new PR finish time of 1:50.26 ... Ran on DMR squad that set a new program record in the event with a time of 9:29.19 at the Alex Wilson Invitational, which was also the ninth fastest time in the NCAA ... Placed second in the 800m at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invite with a time of 1:51.54 .. Set a PR in the mile at the Iowa State Classic with a time of 4:06.87, placing 20th.

2019 Indoor Season: Member of DMR squad that set new Illini program record with time of 9:29.19 at the Alex Wilson Invitational ... Clocked a new PR of 1:52.17 in the 800m at the Illini Invitational to place first in the event ... Ran second-career sub-four minute mile at Larry Wieczorek Invitational ... First-place time of 3:58.06 is new PR and broke Hawkeye Indoor Facility record (4:02.34, Ken Popejoy, Michigan State, 1972) ... Owns the second fastest mile time in NCAA this season ... DMR Squad, Quinn Ready For National Stage
The Illini send five individuals across two event groups to NCAA Indoor Championships this weekend in Birmingham, Alabama. Devin Quinn will compete in the men's 200m semifinal, and Jesse Reiser, Joe Haight, Denis O'Callaghan and Jon Davis will represent the Orange and Blue in the distance medley relay final.
Quinn Eyes 200m Final
Devin Quinn enters the 200m semifinal at the national meet with the 14th fastest qualifying time in the field, the finish time of 20.71 he posted at Big Ten Championships on February 23. The time is the fastest 200m finish in program history and earned Quinn the bronze medal at the conference meet. The eight fastest time in Friday's semifinal will advance to the 200m final on Saturday, which would begin at 6 p.m. CT. Friday's semifinal is slated for 7:52 p.m. CT.
Men's DMR Looks To Make More History At Nationals
The men's distance medley relay group, comprised of juniors Jesse Reiser and Joe Haight, senior Denis O'Callaghan and sophomore Jon Davis head into the DMR indoor national final with the ninth-fastest qualifying time in the NCAA. Their 9:29.19 qualifying time set back on February 16 at the Alex Wilson Invitational at Notre Dame is the fastest time in Illini program history. The Illini last qualified for nationals in the DMR in 2013, and the group of Kyle Engnell, Stephom Pamilton, Ryan Lynn and Graham Morris placed seventh.

Eight Fighting Illini across different events are ranked in the top-75 nationally in their respective events heading into the closing weekend of the 2019 indoor season.
