Illini Begin Outdoor Season Tomorrow At SIU Bill Cornell Classic

Field events begin at 11 a.m. CT, running events start at 12:30 p.m.
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fighting Illini track and field resumes their 2019 season with the start of the outdoor portion of their schedule as they head to Southern Illinois for the SIU Bill Cornell Classic on Saturday, March 23. Field events will begin at 11:30 a.m., and running events will start at 12:30 p.m.

Placed 10th in 200m at NCAA Championships with eighth fastest time in the semifinals ... Scored 11.5 points at Big Ten Championships, placing 4th in both the 100m and 200m ... Broke his own Illinois Track Stadium 100m record at the Illinois Twilight with a time of 10.11 ... Named Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week on April 4 and April 11 ... Won 100m and 200m at both Ole Miss Classic and Jim Click Shootout ... Ran second fastest 200m in Illini history at Ole Miss Classic, winning the event with a time of 20.45.
Chisom Nwoko- Pole Vault
2018 Outdoor Season: Qualified for NCAA West Prelims in 400m dash ... Timed 53.27 at Big Ten Championships in the 400m ... Cleared 12'9.5" (3.90m) in the pole vault for the first time in her career at the Beach Invite ... Lowered 400m PR down to 53.11 at Jim Click Shootout, fifth in Illini history ... Clocked seventh fastest outdoor 400m in Illinois history at the Ole Miss Classic, winning the event with a time of 53.59.
Joe Haight- 400m, 4x100m, 4x400m
2018 Outdoor Season: Earned Second Team All-America honors on 4x100m relay that placed 10th ... 4x100m relay set second fastest time in Illini history with time of 38.99 ... Ran the third leg of Illinois' third-place 4x100m relay at Big Ten Championships ... Also competed in the 200m, 400m and 4x400m relay Set 400m PR at the Jim Click Shootout, timing 46.85 ... Ran the first sub-21 second 200m of his career at the SIU Bill Cornell Spring Classic, clocking a winning time of 20.95 ... Won the 200m and 400m races at the Illinois Twilight.
Briana Driver- 100m & 4x100m
2018 Outdoor Season: Placed 14th at NCAA West Prelims as member of 4x100m relay that timed 44.98 ... Member of 4x100m relay sixth-place finish with a time of 44.76 ... Tied season-best in 100m (11.81) at Big Ten Championships and jumped 19'7.5" (5.98m) in the long jump ... Won the long jump at the Illinois Twilight with a season-best mark of 19'9" (6.02m) ... Timed 11.81 season-best 100m at Jim Click Shootout ... Placed runner-up in the long jump at the Ole Miss Classic with a jump of 19'3.75."
Jacob LaRocca- Pole Vault
2018 Outdoor Season: NCAA Prelims qualifier in the pole vault ... Competed in the pole vault at Big Ten Championships ... Won pole vault competitions at the Bill Cornell Spring Classic and Illinois Twilight ... Set outdoor personal record vault of 16'8" (5.08m).
Sade' Hargrove- 100m & 4x100m
2018 Outdoor Season: Placed 14th at NCAA West Prelims as member of 4x100m relay that timed 44.98 ... Member of 4x100m relay sixth-place finish with a time of 44.76 ... Set PR in the triple jump at Big Ten Championships with a leap of 39'0.25" (11.89m) ... Finished second in the triple jump at the Illinois Twilight with PR of 38'10.5" (11.85m) ... Placed runner-up in the 100m at the Ole Miss Classic with a time of 11.97.

The Illini will split the final weekend of March between the Stanford Invite and the Ole Miss Classic. Both meets will take place on Friday, March 29 and Saturday, March 30.
