Maggie Lampsa is a freshman from Downers grove, Illinois, majoring in Psychology. She joins the Illini as a five-time Region 5 Regional Qualifier, among several other junior-level accomplishments.
Why did you choose Illinois?
I chose Illinois because of the great academics, and I loved the atmosphere of the team.
What are you looking forward to most about college gymnastics?
I am most looking forward to being able to compete at the collegiate level with my awesome teammates and to break some records.
When you were five years old, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a veterinarian. I also wanted to be on American Idol and go to the Olympics.
When did you first get into gymnastics?
I started gymnastics at the age of 2 at a mommy-and-me class.
Who has taught you the most about gymnastics?
My coaches and my teammates have taught me a lot about this sport throughout my career.
Who has been the most influential person in your life?
My parents have been the most influential people in my life. They have taught me some of the most important life lessons and skills that have helped me an enormous amount throughout my life.
