Maday Earns All-Big Ten Recognition

Big Ten Release | Full Honorees

ROSEMONT – The Big Ten Conference honored two Illini soccer student-athletes on Thursday as the league announced its 2019 All-Big Ten women's soccer teams and individual award winners. Illini senior Kelly Maday garnered All-Big Ten Third Team honors, while junior Elizabeth Cablk received the league's Sportsmanship Award.

A native of Wilmette, Illinois, Maday led Illinois in several statistical categories this season as she proved to be a staple for the Illini offense. Maday netted six goals on the year, also recording six assists for the Orange and Blue. Her 18 points on the season led Illinois and ranked among Big Ten leaders. She racked up 14 points in Big Ten play, which comes in at No. 2 in the league. Maday was a critical component for the Illini in several team victories on the season, including a 3-1 win over Northwestern where she recorded one goal and two assists. She also netted two goals in UI's 4-1 win over Minnesota.

Illinois Sportsmanship Honoree, Cablk made her first career appearance for Illinois this season, playing 45 minutes at Maryland. She is majoring in finance at the University of Illinois. The student-athletes chosen for the Sportsmanship Award are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These students must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
