Illini Finish Third to Close Out Fall Season at Landfall

WILMINGTON, N.C. - No. 18 Illinois fired an even-par third round Sunday to finish third at the Landfall Tradition to close out the fall season. The Illini shaved eight strokes off their second-round score to come in at 288 (E) for the third round and 869 (+5) for the tournament.
The third-place finish is the second in as many tournaments for Illinois. The Illini finished in the top five of each of their fall tournaments, the third straight year they have accomplished that feat.
"We had some strong play this week especially in the first and final rounds," head coach Renee Slone said. "Nice way to finish the fall season. Looking forward to a productive offseason and getting some things dialed in that will lead to some great play in the spring."
Senior Tristyn Nowlin equaled the lowest score of any player in any round with a 68 (-4) in Sunday's third round. The Richmond, Kentucky, native recorded four birdies and no holes over par in the final 18 holes en route to a tie for sixth place at 214 (-2).
Sophomore Kornkamol Sukaree and freshman Siyan Chen each carded a 72 (E) in the third round. Chen finished the tournament tied for 31st at 220 (+4). Sophomore Crystal Wang tied for 35th at 221 (+5), Sukaree tied for 45th at 223 (+7), and junior Ali Morallos tied for 55th at 227 (+11).
The Illini return to action Feb. 2-4 at the UCF Challenge in Orlando, Florida.
